Natick amvets

New website and new platform for Veteran nonprofit

from Wix to squarespace

A long overdue update

Most often, those who run nonprofits have a lot of their plates and don’t often have time to maintain a website. When I first connected with the Amvets in Natick, I was offering some other volunteer services. The Post Commander wanted to be able to add more to the existing site, and it was considerably outdated. While most drag and drop sites easily adjust to mobile viewing, this former Wix site didn’t do so that well. The site felt very dated. If they wanted to attract new members and advertise new services for their veterans, it was time to update.

Simple, Clean, mobile Responsive

My favorite feature of Squarespace is how it is intuitively designed to adjust from desktop to mobile viewing. Not only did I give the site a new, clean look & feel by updating colors and simplifying font choices, it now was easy to read and interact with on mobile screens.

Website upgrade for a local general contractor

Website refresh to Squarespace 7.1

Upgrading an already great site

Okay, full disclosure: this small business is owned by a family member. I had designed the initial website (it may have been my first or second Squarespace site), but after 7 or 8 years, and the recent Squarespace 7.1 release, it was time to upgrade.

Since the website was first launched, the business owner had collected a number of new great reviews and had new work to share. There were many things we liked about the original design but really wanted to showcase the great work he has done.

Before / after Sliders

The website “client” had many before and after photos collected over the years. Rather than simply place in a gallery (we did that as well) I wanted a dynamic way of showing the dramatic difference between his “before”s and “after”s.

Using custom coding we added a special slider feature that allows the user to drag an icon left and right across the image to see the before and after.

We further embedded several short videos throughout the page to add additional dynamic content.
