WBZ Radio: Putting Warriors AT Ease

A few days before Veterans’ Day I got the news that a news segment of our Sunday Yoga for Veterans class would not be airing that week; all the video was accidentally deleted.

I was of course upset. I had been hoping the story would help bring attention to our weekly Warriors At Ease class and encourage more Veterans in the area to attend. It didn’t feel right to ask those students, who already graciously agreed to be interviewed, to go through that process again. So I quickly pivoted and reached out to as many other news outlets I could.

I’m so grateful that a reporter from WBZ New Radio responded right away and agreed to meet me to talk about the Warriors At Ease program.

This work has been incredibly rewarding not just because of the tools and care I am able to provide, but because of all that I am learning a long the way. It is such an honor to have these men and women give me their trust in guiding them in a practice that may seem a bit foreign to them.

One of the most special things I am doing is teaching these classes to a 98 year old WW2 Veteran in my hometown. I’ve picked up so many new ideas and techniques learning how to make our chair yoga sessions adaptable to his needs. It’s so impressive to see how quickly he’s picked thing up and just flows with the practice.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - it is NEVER to late, you are NEVER to old to give yoga a chance.
